Founder's Story

I founded Journey Foods to build the future of nutrient consumption through food-forward biotechnology and plant-derived micro foods. We deliver nutrient-dense, delicious and vibrant services and products. I founded the company on the belief that everyone should have access to healthy, delicious products regardless of geographic location or socio-economic background. Having grown up in the Chicago—often in areas that were considered food deserts—I wanted to create accessible, nutrient-dense options for everyone to enjoy. Our goal is simple: change the face of traditional nutrition and snacking in our offices, schools, homes and more.  I'm passionate about finding a way to use ethically-sourced ingredients to give everyone the opportunity to get quick, tasty, and healthy fuel for all of their journeys.

At the crucial intersection of science and convenience in food tech, we are forging an entirely new category of plant-derived nutrition delivery: micro foods. Our team of food explorers, scientists, and machine learning experts work together to deploy an industry-leading data science platform to achieve our mission.  We are a food tech business that is using science and data to create plant-based foods & ingredients to replace more toxic and animal-based foods.  I am a biologist by training and serial entrepreneur who founded Journey Foods in 2016 with a team of food science veterans. Our first product, Journey Bites, reimagines fruit snacks to provide on-the-go nutrition that improves immunity, digestion, energy and brain function.

We have two patent-pending technologies that lock-in the texture, color and taste of fresh plants while amplifying nutrients.  We utilize proprietary plant-based gelatin, micro-climate processing, and AI-driven product development.   Our team uses artificial intelligence-machine learning systems to create a matrix of trending flavors, ingredient pairings and bioactive compound discoveries to develop and track the most promising products for consumers and businesses.

In 2019, we will launch our next set of products which will target the wholesale market and serve as plant-based alternatives to common food ingredients such as gelatin with projected sales over $1M.  We have already generated six figures in revenue from our first product alone, despite almost no marketing. This loan will enable us to fund a marketing effort that will increase revenues which, in turn, will fund additional product development.
